Unlike treatments that work primarily on the surface of the skin, Morpheus8 delivers radiofrequency energy at controlled depths beneath it. This allows treatment to be tailored to different areas of the face, including the lower face, jawline, neck and around the eyes. Dr Julia assesses each patient individually, adjusting treatment depth and energy according to the area being treated, skin quality and the result you would realistically like to achieve.

How does Morpheus8 work?

The treatment uses microneedling to stimulate the fibroblast cells in the skin’s dermal layer, improving the texture and reducing fine lines, scars and superficial pigmentation. The radiofrequency energy is then delivered in the deeper tissues where it stimulates collagen generation to tighten and lift. The Morpheus8 handpiece uses fine microneedles to deliver radiofrequency energy at carefully controlled depths within the skin. This creates heat within the deeper tissues, triggering a healing response that stimulates new collagen and elastin while helping to contract and remodel existing tissue.

Because the depth and energy can be adjusted, treatment can be tailored to different concerns and areas of the face and body. It is particularly useful where loss of firmness occurs alongside changes in skin texture, such as fine lines, enlarged pores or acne scarring. Radiofrequency (RF) energy is a scientifically proven method that helps remodel and rebuild collagen. Because the treatment is minimally invasive and uses a matrix of micro pins to renew the deeper layers of the skin, there is minimal downtime.

What to expect from your Morpheus8 treatment

Treatment involves three sessions a month apart, according to individual response. Before treatment, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed and a topical local anaesthetic applied for approximately 40 minutes to make the procedure more comfortable. Treatment times and frequency will be specifically tailored to obtain the optimal results. Visible results can be seen within a few days, but typically after three weeks the most noticeable results appear. Improvements continue up to three months after treatment.

What areas can be treated? Morpheus8 can be used on any areas that can benefit from resurfacing and subdermal renewal. The most commonly treated areas include the face, jawline, neck, peri-orbital area, abdomen, thighs, legs and buttocks.

What Can Morpheus8 Treat? Morpheus8 can be used to address a number of common concerns associated with ageing and changes in skin quality, including fine lines, skin laxity, uneven texture, enlarged pores and acne scarring. It is frequently used across the lower face, jawline and neck where loss of firmness can become more noticeable, as well as around the eyes and on selected areas of the body.

For some patients Morpheus8 is used as a standalone treatment; for others it may form part of a wider treatment plan. Where more significant laxity or loss of definition is present, Dr Julia may discuss whether a treatment such as Quantum10 FaceTite would be more appropriate.

What are the possible side effects? Local discomfort and skin redness. For eyelid treatments you may experience swelling and bruising. Rare side effects include damage to the skin texture (crusts, blisters and burns), change of pigmentation and scarring.

Is there any downtime? It is common to experience some redness and swelling of the treatment area (a bit like sunburn) and tiny scabs may appear on the face for a few days as part of a normal healing. Since patient downtime is minimal, makeup may be applied as soon as 24 hours after the session to mask any residual redness. You should avoid direct sun exposure and it is recommended to use a broad spectrum sunscreen every day.

Contraindications include:

Retinoic acid or retinol-related skin creams within the week after treatment.
Any surgical or ablative procedure in the treatment area within 3months or before complete healing.
Superficial injection of fillers in the last six months, or botulinum toxin within two weeks.
Use of lsotretinoin (Roaccutane®) within six months prior to treatment.
Pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Cost of treatment

For face (lower lids, mid face, lower face and neck) £595 for each of the three treatments. For eyelids only (upper and lower) £295 for each of the three treatments.

Consultation fee for the above procedures is an additional £50 and includes VISIA facial imaging and the opportunity to discuss your skin, concerns and expectations. Julia will assess whether Morpheus8 is the most appropriate option for you and recommend a personalised treatment plan.
