Tear Trough Rejuvenation By Dr Julia Sen

At our Worcester clinic, Dr Julia approaches tear trough treatments conservatively and precisely. As one of the region's leading ophthalmic surgeons, her aim is not to change your face, but to soften the contrast between the lower eyelid and cheek so you look rested and naturally refreshed.

The eye area is often the first place we look when someone appears tired, even if they feel perfectly well. Hollowing beneath the eyes can create shadows, exaggerate dark circles and give a drawn expression that doesn’t reflect how you actually feel. Under-eye hollows are rarely just a skin issue. They tend to develop gradually as the mid-face loses volume with age, the cheek support lowers and the underlying orbital bone becomes more visible. In some people the bone structure is naturally deeper, which creates shadowing from an early age, while thinner skin allows those shadows to show more clearly. Genetics often plays a significant part too, which is why some patients notice tired-looking eyes even when they feel well rested. Because the change is structural rather than superficial, creams alone cannot correct it. The area needs gentle support and careful contour restoration rather than surface treatment.

Our Treatment Approach

Tear trough filler is one of the most technique-dependent procedures in aesthetic medicine. It requires precise depth, product choice and placement. â€‹

What it improves:

  • Under-eye hollows

  • Shadowing and tired appearance

  • Mild eye bags caused by contour difference

  • A gaunt or drawn look

A full consultation is always carried out to ensure this treatment is right for you. â€‹Treatment Costs: £550. Consultation fee for the above procedures is an additional £50.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it hurt? Most patients find it very tolerable. The product contains local anaesthetic and the cannula technique reduces discomfort. You may feel pressure rather than sharp pain.

Is there downtime? Usually minimal. You may experience mild swelling or a small bruise which settles within a few days. Makeup can normally be applied 24 hours later.

When will I see results? You will notice improvement immediately, with final results visible once any swelling settles, typically 1 to 2 weeks. Top-ups may be required every 1-2 years for tear trough filler.

Is it safe? Only premium medical-grade hyaluronic acid fillers are used. Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the body and treatments are reversible if required.

Will it remove dark circles? If shadows are caused by hollowing, yes — often dramatically. If the colour comes from pigmentation, other treatments may be recommended alongside or instead.
