After the success of our exclusive Wellbeing For Wise Women event in October last year, we're delighted to be hosting again, this time at Grafton Manor in Bromsgrove on March 7. Dr Julia Sen: Leading Consultant Ophthalmic Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic surgeon, working in the NHS, privately at Spire South Bank Hospital, Worcester, and is the Director of the Dr Julia Sen Health & Wellness Clinic, Worcester.


During her nearly three decades in health, medicine and wellbeing, she has developed a particular interest in issues affecting women as they age, especially menopause, skincare and nutrition. At our event, she will be encouraging us to "Keep On Movin''" sharing her advice on how best to exercise for longevity and good health in later life.

Dr Sajjad Rajpar

Dr Sajjad Rajpar: If you were at our last event, you'll recognise Saj - he's a highly skilled Consultant Dermatologist and is Medical Director of Midland Skin, based in Edgbaston Medical Village, Birmingham. Previously a Consultant at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he was the head of skin surgery and Mohs surgery, he has been practising at Midland Skin for more than ten years.


Hair changes can be very common during the perimenopause and menopause and Saj will talk us through how our hormones are important with respect to growth and texture, looking at the reasons why women experience hair loss and the importance of having a holistic consultation to explore the reasons behind these changes. He will also share his advice on the different treatment options and will provide his expert tips and tricks.

 
Dr Penny Goold

Dr Penny Goold: Penny is a Consultant Doctor in Sexual Health at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust and clinical lead for the Psychosexual Medicine and Therapy service. She strongly believes that everyone has the right to healthy, safe and pleasurable sexual relationships.

 

Penny has recently opened Your Sexual Wellbeing, a private clinic in Bromsgrove (BHI Parkside), where she combines her extensive background in sexual health and psychosexual medicine to identify and manage both the physical and psychological aspects of sexual difficulties.


Her expertise includes working with people experiencing reduced desire and arousal or painful sex. She appreciates the impact of physical, emotional, and mental health, physiological ageing (eg. menopause), family, relationship, and sociocultural factors on sexual wellbeing.

 

Leila Holmes: With a BSc Physiotherapy from Manchester University and an MSC in Physiotherapy in Women's Health from Bradford University, Leila has been a Chartered Physiotherapist for more than18 years. Her specialisms include Musculoskeletal and Pelvic Health Physiotherapy. Leila runs her clinic Physioadvantage in Alvechurch, with a focus on women's health conditions including problems with the pelvic floor.


For our Wise Women event, Leila will be discussing how important it is to look after our necks as we age, the roles it plays in maintaining our health, and problems that can occur, especially during menopause. She will also be sharing her tips and considerations for exercise.

 
Really inspiring to be in a room full of women openly discussing the issues that so many of us face, yet so many of us keep quiet about. Informative and engaging, I came away armed feeling really positive. And I'm sure my pelvic floor will thank me!
 

Sara Jones: Sara is the founder of Zenergy Wellness, in Bromsgrove, a boutique studio offering Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi/Qi Gong classes from morning through to evening. Each one of the instructors brings their unique style to the classes and workshops, offering a holistic wellness journey for the mind, body and spirit alongside a supportive, welcoming community.


A wellbeing Specialist, with a focus on health and Mindfulness, she empowers others by grow their self-belief and self-worth. For our March evening, she'll share tips on self-care rituals with Unlocking Positivity: A Guide to Starting Your Day with 'Me' Time, guiding us to live a more present and content life. "I'm excited to share tips on self-care rituals for creating dedicated 'me time,' and guide others on living a more present and content life."
